A brawl broke out in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms at Mestalla during half-time of Valencia's match against Real Madrid, requiring the intervention of the National Police. According to eyewitness accounts, Antonio Rüdiger became involved in a physical altercation with a member of Valencia's private security team, who was struck while attempting to separate those involved. The Real Madrid players involved were the German defender, Éder Militão and Jude Bellingham.

The incident was triggered by protests from Valencia players over the foul that led to Federico Valverde's opening goal. The hosts disputed the decision after Maffeo's challenge on Kylian Mbappé. Captains Gayà, Guido and Pepelu, alongside other players, members of the coaching staff and sporting director Braulio Vázquez, voiced their complaints to referee Hernández Maeso as he made his way towards the dressing rooms.

At that point, the aforementioned Real Madrid players criticised the Valencia squad's behaviour, telling them to remain quiet and head to the dressing room. The exchanges further escalated tensions, forcing security personnel to step in and separate those involved, according to the sources consulted. It was during that intervention that Rüdiger allegedly punched a security guard.
