Former Real Madrid player Rafael Alkorta shared his thoughts on the current state of his former club in a radio interview.

"It seems like some players don't grasp the fact that football has two phases—one with the ball and one without. Both are equally important. Real Madrid isn't managing that balance. All season, with a few exceptions, it's been the same story: you can't survive without the ball. You need to be just as committed to playing without the ball as you are with it. If you don't, you might get away with it against average teams, but it won't work against top-tier sides. It’s impossible to succeed that way," Alkorta explained on El Larguero on Cadena Ser.

Alkorta expressed frustration with Real Madrid's performance in the Spanish Super Cup final, where they suffered a 2-5 defeat. He, along with fellow former player Álvaro Benito, believes that understanding and addressing this aspect of the game is key to improving the team.
