Rafa Nadal took part in 'The Battle of Stars', the charity tournament held at the Pula Golf and Son Servera Golf courses to raise funds for ALS research.
While the event brought together athletes and celebrities, Nadal was also asked about the recent Real Madrid presidential election between Florentino Pérez and Enrique Riquelme. The former tennis star, who is an honorary member of the club, admitted he did not cast a vote but praised the current president.
"I didn't vote. Both ran good campaigns. And in the end, this is democracy, and the winner is the winner. Florentino is, in my opinion, the best president in the history of Real Madrid. So I think his mission wasn't over yet."
Nadal also commented on Riquelme's future ambitions after the businessman challenged Pérez for the presidency.
"Florentino has been president for 26 years, and time passes for everyone. There will come a time, I suppose, when he'll have to step down. And Enrique, well, I don't know. Today is today, and tomorrow will be tomorrow. I have no idea what will happen tomorrow. Today he wanted to win; we'll see if he still wants to in a few years. Besides, his personal life will evolve, and so will his professional life. It's always very risky to make predictions several years into the future."
