The Canary Islands Prosecutor's Office is prepared to withdraw the prison sentence it is seeking against Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio, provided he formally apologizes in court to the two women featured in a sexual video that was allegedly recorded without consent.

According to the report, Asencio sent both women a letter in September in which he acknowledged making "the mistake" of showing the video to a friend. The recording was allegedly made by Ruiz, Rodríguez and García.

During a preliminary hearing held on Tuesday, the prosecutor confirmed receipt of the letter and noted that both women had accepted the apology.

However, the prosecutor emphasized that the legal process must still be completed. He wants Asencio to appear in court, as the oral trial was ordered months ago, and for the apology to be delivered during the hearing itself.

The prosecutor also stated that the two women should have the opportunity to express their position before any decision is made regarding the withdrawal of the requested prison sentence.
