According to La Iberia magazine, Pope Leo XIV is expected to visit Spain between June 6 and 12, as confirmed by Cardinal José Cobo. The Pontiff’s agenda would include stops in Madrid, Barcelona, and the Canary Islands. One of the most striking elements of the visit is the inclusion of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where a vigil is planned to be held.

If confirmed, the Pope’s presence would represent a major event for the Spanish capital. The timing would avoid any conflict with Real Madrid’s sporting schedule, as the team would no longer require the stadium for matches.

The visit to Madrid would reportedly begin at the Zarzuela Palace, where Pope Leo XIV would meet King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia. From there, he would travel to the Santiago Bernabéu before concluding the day with a Mass in the city center.

This would not be the first time the Bernabéu has hosted the head of the Catholic Church. In 1982, Pope John Paul II also visited Spain and spent time at Real Madrid’s stadium, an event remembered for the massive turnout and the warm reception that left a lasting impression on the Pontiff.
