Randall Rodriguez, the goalkeeper of Peñarol, was reportedly the target of Real Madrid early in December. Now, according to Diario AS, the whites are eager to move for Rodriguez as a possible long-term option to replace Courtois. Although there has been no communication between the two clubs, Rodriguez would theoretically follow Fede Valverde's path, spending a season with Real Madrid Castilla. It is still unknown if Real Madrid would buy the youngster outright or loan him with a buyout option.

Tall and imposing, Rodriguez was crucial for Uruguay in their under-20 South American Championship victory. Not yet given his debut by Peñarol, he is on the bench. The 20-year-old only has a year left on his contract. Real Madrid are actively considering a potential successor to Courtois, who will turn 32 in May.
