Real Madrid Castilla secured a dramatic victory over Bilbao Athletic in the reserve-team clash at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium.
The visitors struck early, taking the lead in the 5th minute. However, Castilla responded well and found the equalizer midway through the first half through Pol Fortuny, restoring parity before the break.
After halftime, Julián López de Lerma’s side pushed for a winner and came agonizingly close in the 85th minute, when Leiva’s strike from the edge of the box crashed against the post. Just when the match seemed destined to end in a draw, Palacios stepped up in stoppage time to complete the comeback and seal all three points for Madrid’s reserve team.
