Real Madrid has officially announced the signing of Spanish-Dutch center-back Dean Huijsen, a 20-year-old rising star standing at an imposing 1.97 meters tall. Born in Amsterdam in April 2005, Huijsen is a Spanish international and is now set to wear the iconic white shirt through June 30, 2030.
Although the deal had been in place for several days—with Real Madrid and Bournemouth already exchanging documents—the club confirmed the agreement today. Rather than entering into negotiations, Los Blancos activated the player's release clause, paying a total of £50 million (approximately €59.3 million) in three installments.
As part of the deal, Juventus, Huijsen’s former club, will receive 10% of the capital gain. Meanwhile, Málaga CF—where Huijsen spent a crucial part of his youth development—will benefit from the UEFA solidarity mechanism, receiving up to 5% of the total transfer amount, which will be shared with San Félix, another of his early clubs. San Félix is currently part of Juventud de Torremolinos.
According to reports, Bournemouth has already given the green light for the defender to join Real Madrid immediately, allowing him to take part in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to begin next month in the United States.
The signing represents the culmination of a long pursuit by Real Madrid. Huijsen had been on the club's radar for years and was close to joining on two previous occasions. Despite receiving eight offers, including a strong push from Chelsea, the moment Real Madrid stepped in, his decision was clear: to fulfill a dream and play at the Santiago Bernabéu.
