Real Madrid have officially confirmed that Nico Paz will remain at Como for the 2026-27 season.
In an official statement, the club announced: "Real Madrid CF, Como 1907, and Nico Paz have reached an agreement for the player to stay at the Italian club for the 2026-2027 season. This agreement, reached at the player's request, also includes a unilateral option for Real Madrid to repurchase Nico Paz's registration rights for the 2027-2028 season."
Shortly after the announcement, Nico Paz explained his decision in a message published on social media.
"After many weeks of reflection, I have decided that the best option for my career at this time is to stay at Como for another year, the club that gave me the opportunity to grow and become the player I am today. I personally believe that this is the best decision for both me and Real Madrid, as it is a very important year in this stage of my career and a unique opportunity to continue growing as a footballer and prepare myself in the best way for the future," the midfielder wrote.
As part of the agreement, Como will retain the Argentine midfielder after agreeing a deal worth around €60 million with Real Madrid. The Spanish club, however, will continue to control the player's future through a unilateral buy-back clause that can be activated ahead of the 2027-28 season for a fee reported to be close to €80 million.
