At his official unveiling as Real Madrid’s latest signing, 18-year-old Franco Mastantuono didn’t hesitate when asked who he considers the best player in the world.
“The best player? For me, it’s Lionel Messi. I’m Argentinian,” he stated confidently.
The €45 million signing from River Plate made it clear that his admiration for Messi is rooted in national pride, even though the Barcelona legend is a historic rival of his new club.
Mastantuono, under contract until June 30, 2031, also spoke about his future goals.
“Representing Argentina at the 2026 World Cup would be a dream, but right now my full focus is on Real Madrid. I’m only thinking about starting training with the team,” he added.
