Real Madrid has officially entered its presidential electoral process after Florentino Pérez unexpectedly announced the upcoming elections during his recent press conference.
Despite being re-elected last November, Florentino Pérez is seeking to remain in office and has invited any potential challengers to officially present their candidacies. The process is now underway, with the next ten days dedicated to gathering endorsements before the elections move forward.
In recent hours, Enrique Riquelme has emerged as one of the main figures expected to challenge Florentino Pérez for the presidency. The businessman must first secure the necessary endorsements before officially entering the race and attempting to gain support from club members.
However, Riquelme may not be the only opposition candidate. According to journalist Adrián Ortega in The Objective, businessman Eugenio Martínez Bravo is also preparing a possible candidacy.
The report states that Martínez Bravo is currently seeking support from figures who have publicly criticized the club’s current leadership in recent months. His objective would reportedly be to create a unified opposition candidacy capable of competing strongly against Florentino Pérez in the elections.
The presidential race is therefore beginning to take shape as Real Madrid prepares for one of its most significant institutional moments in recent years.
