Real Madrid have officially confirmed their intention to bring Rafa Nadal onto the club's Board of Directors. One of the items on the agenda for the General Assembly of Members, scheduled for November 21, will be a vote on the appointment of the former tennis player, who has maintained a close association with the club for decades.
There is considerable optimism surrounding his confirmation, with Nadal regarded as one of Real Madrid's most iconic figures thanks to his global profile and long-standing connection with the institution.
The announcement has also reignited speculation about a possibility that has been discussed for years: Nadal eventually becoming Real Madrid president. OK Diario has examined the path he would need to follow to reach the club's top position.
Nadal has been an honorary member since 2011, and his recognised membership seniority dates back to that year. According to the club's statutes, he could therefore stand as a presidential candidate in 2031, once he has completed the required 20 years of membership.
This potential scenario could form part of a transition following Florentino Pérez's long tenure as president. Although Pérez continues to show enthusiasm and energy for leading the club, he is reportedly beginning to prepare Real Madrid for his eventual departure.
Against this backdrop, Nadal's arrival on the current Board of Directors takes on added significance. The former tennis player is expected to assume an important role within the institution, gaining experience alongside Pérez during this period.
