Real Madrid face Real Betis in their fourth La Liga match of the season on Friday at 9:00 PM. After winning all three of their opening games, José Mourinho's side will look to extend their perfect start in one of the toughest stadiums in the league.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Portuguese manager addressed the delicate situation surrounding Raúl Asencio, the team's strong start to the season and his upcoming reunion with Manuel Pellegrini.
Mourinho was particularly clear when discussing Asencio following the controversy surrounding the defender.
"I spoke with him when I arrived about things from the past. Since I arrived, I no longer discuss off-field matters. At Valdebebas, he's an exemplary professional; when he was fit, nobody trained harder or better than him. Now he's the first to arrive and the last to leave. But a Real Madrid player is a Real Madrid player 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 12 months a year. Everything you do outside of football is still Real Madrid. It continues to damage the prestige of a club that is untouchable. I'm not happy, and everyone makes mistakes, but accumulated mistakes are different."
