José Mourinho is already reportedly planning possible reinforcements for Real Madrid ahead of next season.
According to journalist Miguel Serrano, the Portuguese coach has recommended the signing of João Gomes to strengthen the midfield. The Brazilian midfielder, currently playing for Wolverhampton, had previously been strongly linked with Atlético Madrid.
At 25 years old, João Gomes has established himself as one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League thanks to his intensity, physical strength, and defensive work rate. Mourinho reportedly believes Real Madrid’s midfield currently lacks those qualities, particularly in high-intensity matches.
Reports in England had suggested that Atlético Madrid was leading the race for the player’s signature this summer. However, Real Madrid’s growing interest could alter the situation significantly.
A key factor in the operation could be Jorge Mendes, who maintains a strong relationship with both Mourinho and Wolverhampton. Mendes’ renewed connection with Real Madrid could also play an important role if the club decides to actively pursue the Brazilian midfielder.
At this stage, no final decision has reportedly been made by Real Madrid regarding a possible move.
