Real Madrid are continuing their search for a former player to act as a bridge between the squad and José Mourinho's coaching staff, and Ricardo Carvalho has reportedly emerged as the leading candidate.

According to journalist Sergio Valentín, Mourinho has personally proposed the former Portuguese defender for the role. The Real Madrid coach views Carvalho as the ideal figure to fill the vacant position and bring valuable experience to the dressing room, particularly after the possibility of appointing Pepe was ruled out.

The relationship between Mourinho and Carvalho spans many years and includes successful spells at the highest level of European football. The pair enjoyed major success together at Chelsea, and Mourinho later brought Carvalho to Real Madrid during his first spell at the club.

Carvalho's familiarity with the demands of Real Madrid, combined with his strong relationship with Mourinho, is seen as a factor that could help facilitate the day-to-day management of the squad.

Since retiring as a player, Carvalho has also built coaching experience. He previously worked as an assistant to André Villas-Boas at Marseille and currently serves as part of Roberto Martínez's coaching staff with the Portuguese national team.

According to the report, Real Madrid are evaluating the possibility of bringing Carvalho back to the club as part of Mourinho's new project, believing his experience and leadership could be valuable additions behind the scenes.
