Éder Militão is getting closer to returning to action for José Mourinho, but Real Madrid have no intention of rushing the Brazilian defender back.
The centre-back has already started doing recovery work on the Valdebebas training pitch and is currently the injured player closest to making his return. However, given his injury history and the severity of his latest setback, the club and Mourinho are taking every precaution.
The current situation in central defence also allows Real Madrid to be patient. Konaté, Huijsen and Rüdiger have provided reliable options for Mourinho, while Raúl Asencio offers further depth. The Portuguese coach has also been impressed by the development of youngsters such as Mario Rivas and Joan Martínez, who caught his attention during pre-season.
With several alternatives available, Militão can complete every stage of his recovery without the pressure of an immediate return influencing medical decisions.
The plan is to reintegrate him gradually. The first step will be for Militão to train normally with the rest of the squad and regain his rhythm and confidence before gradually accumulating competitive minutes. There will be no pressure to immediately restore him to the starting XI.
Mourinho has already demonstrated with other injured players that he prefers to carefully manage their return rather than risk a setback. The same approach will be taken with Militão, with Real Madrid determined to ensure that the Brazilian is fully ready before returning to competitive action.
