José Mourinho has once again emerged as a serious option for the Real Madrid bench. Although a return initially seemed unlikely, the situation has reportedly changed in recent weeks following contacts involving agent Jorge Mendes.

According to the reports, Mendes first approached Real Madrid with the possibility of Mourinho’s return, and the club’s leadership now views the Portuguese coach as one of the main candidates to rebuild the squad and restore order inside the dressing room.

There is currently no formal agreement between the parties, but both sides are reportedly aware of each other’s intentions. Discussions are expected to continue once the season concludes for both clubs.

Real Madrid’s management is said to believe Mourinho has the personality and authority required to handle the current atmosphere around the squad. The club is also reportedly working to avoid the issues that affected relations during his previous spell in Madrid.

The renewed relationship between Real Madrid and Jorge Mendes has also played a role in reopening communication channels. Reports additionally mention that Mendes recently discussed the possibility of Bernardo Silva joining the club.

Meanwhile, Rui Costa and Benfica are reportedly already exploring possible replacements, with Rúben Amorim named as a leading candidate. Mourinho’s release clause is believed to stand at around €3 million.
