Éder Militão will undergo surgery this week in Finland after sustaining a hamstring injury during the match against Alavés. The defender was forced off with discomfort, and medical tests later confirmed an injury in his left leg.

The Brazilian has opted for surgery following a period of consideration in which conservative treatment was also evaluated. That alternative could have reduced his recovery time to around five weeks and potentially allowed him to participate in the World Cup, but it carried a significantly higher risk of relapse.

With surgery, Militão is expected to be sidelined for approximately five months, ruling him out of the World Cup but offering a safer long-term recovery.

The procedure will be carried out by Lasse Lempainen, a specialist widely regarded for treating this type of injury.
