Éder Militão faces a long road to recovery. The Real Madrid centre-back, who suffered a serious injury during the match against Osasuna and underwent surgery by Dr. Leyes on 29 November for a "complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament, affecting both menisci in his right leg," has now shared a glimpse of his recovery process. Previously, he had revealed little about his daily routine, but in a recent video, he can be seen making progress in the gym. The video shows the Brazilian defender smiling as he begins to work hard on his rehabilitation.
Militão has months of rehabilitation ahead, with an estimated recovery period of nine months. The defender had already overcome a serious knee injury sustained in the first league match of last season on August 12, returning stronger than before. Now, he is mentally prepared to tackle this new challenge. While Militão had previously shared images on social media of his post-surgery rest, this latest video shows him engaging in his first physical exercises. His family is by his side, along with Real Madrid staff who work tirelessly with him during his recovery.
Militão knows that his focus this season will be solely on rehabilitation, aiming to return even stronger next season. The emotional scenes of him in tears as he fell to the ground against Osasuna, showing clear signs of pain after his knee gave way during a play, are now in the past. The injury, caused by a poorly executed move as he attempted a shot, resulted in a torn cruciate ligament.
