Real Madrid's presidential election campaign continues to take shape, with Florentino Pérez and Enrique Riquelme presenting different visions for the club’s future, including the managerial position.
While Real Madrid is reportedly working on the arrival of José Mourinho, with an announcement expected after the election process concludes, Enrique Riquelme is said to have an alternative candidate in mind.
According to journalist Miguel ‘Látigo’ Serrano, Riquelme has secured an agreement with Mikel Arteta and would appoint the Arsenal manager as Real Madrid coach if he wins the elections. Despite receiving a contract renewal offer from the Premier League club, Arteta is reportedly part of Riquelme’s sporting project.
Arteta has earned widespread recognition for his work at Arsenal, guiding the club back among England’s elite. The Spanish coach recently led the London side to the Premier League title and the Champions League final, strengthening his reputation as one of Europe’s leading managers.
The potential appointment of Arteta represents one of the key pillars of Riquelme’s campaign, offering members an alternative sporting vision built around a coach with recent success at the highest level.
Meanwhile, Mourinho remains the preferred option linked to Florentino Pérez’s project. As a result, the election could determine two very different paths for Real Madrid’s future, both on and off the pitch.
