Bad news for Pau Quesada and Real Madrid Femenino. The club confirmed on Saturday that Merle Frohms (Germany, 1995) has suffered a complete tear of the posterior cruciate ligament in her right knee.
Real Madrid’s medical report indicates that the German goalkeeper will undergo conservative treatment instead of surgery. According to Dr. José González (via AS), her recovery is expected to take between three and four months.
The injury means Misa Rodríguez will once again take over in goal, having already replaced Frohms during the recent Champions League match against PSG after the German went down injured.
Frohms, who joined the club this summer as one of its marquee signings, had become an undisputed starter for Pau Quesada, featuring in all 11 matches so far this season (916 minutes in total). Her injury occurred just 15 minutes into the PSG match, after colliding with Kanjinga while contesting a loose ball.
