Kylian Mbappé has confirmed that his knee is fully recovered after weeks of speculation about his physical condition. Speaking at a promotional event in France, the Real Madrid forward addressed the rumors surrounding the sprained left knee that had limited his playing time recently.
“My knee is fine, much better. It's progressing quite well, although I know there's been a lot of speculation about it and some false things have been said. It's the life of a top athlete; we're used to people saying things without verifying them or having any basis in fact,” Mbappé explained.
The French star was used as a substitute in the recent derby against Atlético Madrid and also in the previous match against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Despite the limited minutes, Mbappé insists he is now fully fit.
“I’m 100% recovered. I had the opportunity to get a good diagnosis in Paris, and together we devised a plan to get back to my best level with Real Madrid, also with the World Cup in mind.”
Mbappé has now joined the France national football team for the international break. Didier Deschamps’s side will play two friendlies, starting with a high-profile clash against Brazil national football team, featuring teammates like Vinícius Júnior and Endrick. They will then face Colombia national football team later in the break.
The key question now is how many minutes Mbappé will play under Deschamps, especially after the careful management by Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa in the club’s last two matches, both victories despite the forward’s limited involvement.
