Real Madrid will attempt to delay Barcelona’s title celebrations at the Camp Nou while uncertainty remains over the availability of Kylian Mbappé.
The French forward was due to undergo tests on Wednesday at Valdebebas to assess his recovery from a semitendinosus muscle injury in his left leg, suffered at La Cartuja, but the club postponed the evaluation. An MRI scan is now scheduled for Thursday, which is expected to provide a clearer picture of his condition. The club remains hopeful he can at least take part in part of the group training session.
For now, doubts persist. Mbappé has only managed light work in the gym and pool in recent days. Since picking up the injury late in the 1-1 draw against Real Betis, the goal has been to have him available for the match at the Camp Nou, similar to the recovery plan followed for Thibaut Courtois.
Thursday’s tests will determine the effectiveness of his recovery process and clarify whether he can feature in El Clásico. Mbappé also has a personal objective, aiming to maintain or extend his three-goal lead over Vedat Muriqi in the race for La Liga’s top scorer award ahead of the World Cup.
