Kylian Mbappé has climbed to the top of the European Golden Boot race, drawing level with Harry Kane after another decisive performance. The French forward’s brace in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Villarreal at the Estadio de la Cerámica took his tally to 21 goals, matching the Bayern Munich striker.

Mbappé’s latest display also allowed him to overtake Erling Haaland in the standings. The Manchester City forward did not feature in his side’s win over Wolves, while Kane was unable to score in Bayern’s surprise defeat against Augsburg, leaving both players tied at the summit.

With goals in Europe’s top five leagues valued at two points each, Mbappé and Kane now sit on 42 points, while Haaland follows closely with 40. The race remains extremely tight as the season enters its decisive phase.

Vedat Muriqi is currently the only LaLiga player besides Mbappé in the top ten. The Mallorca striker has accumulated 28 points thanks to his 14 goals this season. In leagues outside Europe’s top five, goals are awarded between 1.5 and one point, depending on the league coefficient.
