Kylian Mbappe is currently hospitalized in Palm Beach after being diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis, Real Madrid confirmed in an official medical report. The French forward had been feeling unwell since Monday.
Sources reveal that Mbappe was unable to train or even leave his hotel room after his symptoms worsened. Sustained only by sports drinks and fruit, he remained in isolation since June 16, far removed from his teammates and daily routines.
Despite Xabi Alonso's optimism in the pre-match press conference about possibly including Mbappe, the player was in no condition to travel with the squad or even attend the match from the stands.
With no signs of significant improvement, the club has decided to move him to a hospital for more specialized treatment and in-depth testing. As a result, Mbappe is practically ruled out for Real Madrid's second Club World Cup match against Pachuca.
The extreme Florida heat and humidity are also complicating his recovery timeline. While there’s no official estimate on when he might return to the field, the club remains hopeful he could be available for the third match of the tournament, scheduled against RB Salzburg on Friday, June 27.
