Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé will be sidelined for approximately three weeks due to a persistent issue in his left knee, according to reports from Cadena SER’s Carrusel Deportivo programme.
The French international is set to miss Monday’s La Liga fixture against Getafe, along with several upcoming matches. The club’s objective is to have him fully recovered in time for the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie against Manchester City.
Mbappé has been managing the knee sprain since December, when the discomfort first appeared following a 2–0 home defeat to Celta Vigo. Despite the issue, he has maintained an impressive scoring record, netting 23 goals in 23 La Liga appearances this season.
However, recurring pain has limited his minutes and forced him to miss several key fixtures, including the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Atlético Madrid and Álvaro Arbeloa’s debut Copa del Rey match against Albacete.
The 27-year-old completed 90 minutes in the 2–0 victory over Levante before the Christmas break, even finding the net. But a recent flare-up during training has now led the medical staff to implement a more structured recovery plan to prevent further setbacks.
