Real Madrid has reportedly completed the signing of Max Shulga, according to Piratas del Basket. The Ukrainian guard arrives after an impressive season in the NBA G League, where he averaged 15.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
Shulga will also count as a homegrown player, a valuable asset for the club. As highlighted by Diario AS, he developed his game in Spain after joining Colegio Leonés at the age of 11 before continuing his progress at Torrelodones through its Basketball Excellence School.
His arrival increases Real Madrid's number of homegrown players to five: Sergio Llull, Alberto Abalde, Jaime Pradilla, Edy Tavares, and Max Shulga. Usman Garuba also qualifies but is currently sidelined through injury.
Although capable of playing both point guard and shooting guard, Shulga is expected to feature mainly at the shooting guard position, giving Pedro Martínez additional depth alongside Alberto Abalde and Sergio Llull.
At point guard, Real Madrid already boasts a strong rotation with Facundo Campazzo, Andrés Feliz, and Theo Maledon, meaning Shulga's versatility will provide even greater flexibility as the club continues shaping its squad for the 2026-27 season.
