Real Madrid basketball has found itself at the center of an unexpected transfer rumor, with Mario Hezonja as the main focus. Journalist Víctor Colmenarejo echoed reports circulating in Israel, where several outlets claim that Hapoel have identified the Croatian forward as their top target in the market. According to Sport5, the club’s president has already made contact with Hezonja’s representatives.

Hezonja, however, is under contract with Real Madrid until 2029, which means any potential move would require direct negotiations with the Spanish club. Given the player’s importance within the current project, there is little indication that Madrid are open to exploring such a scenario.

Colmenarejo himself addressed the rumors with caution: “It sounds far-fetched right now, but if you had told me this three weeks ago, when Mario was struggling on his own, I would have found it completely believable.”

For now, the journalist does not expect Hapoel’s interest to develop into something concrete. Still, as often happens in the transfer market, nothing can be entirely ruled out.

The reality today is that Hezonja has rediscovered his form, his performances have stabilized, and Real Madrid continue to view him as a cornerstone for the immediate future. It is understandable that Hapoel would dream of securing a player of his caliber. Turning that dream into reality, however, would require a highly unlikely and unexpected shift in circumstances.
