The UEFA Champions League will undergo significant changes beginning in the 2024/25 season, according to UEFA.

The biggest change will be the transition from the traditional group stage to a single league phase involving all participating teams, which will increase the total number of teams from 32 to 36. Instead of the previous six home-and-away games against three teams, each club will now be guaranteed a minimum of eight league stage games against eight different opponents (four at home, four away).

The top eight teams in the league will advance to the knockout stage automatically, while the teams in ninth to 24th place will compete in a two-legged play-off for a place in the competition's last 16.

The UEFA Europa League (8 matches in the league stage) and UEFA Europa Conference League (6 matches in the league stage) will both have 36 teams in the league phase, with similar format changes.
