The Provincial Court of Madrid has rejected the appeal filed by UEFA, LaLiga, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), once again ruling in favor of the Super League in its legal battle against UEFA for abusing its dominant position in European football competitions.

The new ruling, delivered by a panel of three judges, is enforceable and confirms the decision previously issued by the judge of Commercial Court No. 17 of Madrid. That verdict ordered UEFA, led by Aleksander Ceferin, to halt its anti-competitive practices after determining that the organization imposed unjustified and disproportionate restrictions violating Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The plaintiffs—UEFA, LaLiga, and the RFEF—have been ordered to pay court costs and have 20 days to file a new appeal with the same Court.

This latest decision paves the way for a potential multimillion-euro lawsuit by the Super League against UEFA for damages. Such legal action could materialize in the coming weeks following a mandatory conciliation process before the official claim. If carried out, it would represent a severe financial blow to UEFA.

The ruling follows months of failed negotiations between the Super League and UEFA—around six meetings in the last eight months—where both parties attempted to find common ground. The talks broke down after UEFA rejected several Super League proposals, including free match broadcasting via the Unify platform, raising the competitive level in the tournament’s early stages, and granting clubs and players greater participation in governance and international scheduling. Despite moments of apparent progress, the sides ultimately failed to reach an agreement.
