After parting ways with Real Madrid last summer, Lucas Vázquez is now embracing a new stage of his career at Bayer Leverkusen. The Galician winger, whose contract was not renewed following a difficult final season in Madrid, has spoken in a recent interview about several topics linked to his former club, including the Negreira case, Xabi Alonso, and Real Madrid’s ambitions this season.

When addressing the Negreira case, Vázquez was clear, but he chose to emphasize the sporting side of things, which he believes is what matters most right now. “The squad has some fantastic players, and I fully trust that they can turn the situation around. We have to be patient and see how the decisive part of the season develops. Everyone is eager to write off Real Madrid and talk about a season without trophies, but it’s only December and this club is always capable of anything,” he said.

Vázquez also shared his thoughts on two of the team’s biggest stars, Vinícius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé. Speaking about the French forward, he stated: “He has the footballing quality and the mentality to achieve anything. The only limits he’ll have are the ones he sets himself.” On Vinícius, he added: “He’s mature enough to know what he has to do. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met, and I truly mean that. Together, I believe they can do great things for the club.” With these comments, Lucas Vázquez made it clear that he still has complete faith in Real Madrid’s project and its ability to fight for every title.
