Álvaro Carreras has once again been linked with a possible departure from Real Madrid. Last summer, the club made several changes at left-back following the signing of Marc Cucurella, with the abundance of options in the position creating the need to offload one player. Fran García eventually left, while Ferland Mendy remained at the club despite not featuring in José Mourinho's plans.

Mourinho is reportedly very satisfied with having both Cucurella and Carreras available at left-back. However, according to El Nacional, Liverpool have expressed interest in signing the Spanish defender, although they are also considering other options for the position. Real Madrid, meanwhile, are not expected to sanction his departure. The former Benfica player is under contract until 2031 and is regarded as an important part of the club's future plans.

Mourinho is particularly pleased with the performances of his two left-backs. Cucurella is considered an undisputed starter and demonstrated his best form in the Clásico, where he effectively neutralised Lamine Yamal. Carreras, meanwhile, has also impressed whenever called upon and has even challenged his compatriot for a place in the starting line-up.

The Portuguese manager has a clear hierarchy in the position but considers both players important and intends to distribute playing time throughout the season. As a result, Carreras is not expected to leave Real Madrid in the short term.
