Lennart Karl has quickly become one of the most talked-about young footballers in Germany and is widely viewed as a player destined to shape European football in the years ahead. At just 17 years old, the Bayern Munich prospect has made a remarkable breakthrough, stepping up during Jamal Musiala’s absence and earning the full trust of head coach Vincent Kompany.

Karl’s impact has also won over the Allianz Arena faithful, who already see him as a cornerstone for Bayern’s long-term future. His rise has been historic: he is the first player under the age of 18 to score in three consecutive Champions League matches.

Despite being under contract with Bayern Munich until 2028, Karl sparked significant debate in Germany this Sunday with comments that caught many by surprise. The remarks were made during a visit to a Bayern fan club in Burgsinn, near Frammersbach, his hometown. In a relaxed setting, surrounded by friends and supporters, the teenager openly admitted his admiration for Real Madrid.

The moment was striking. When a fan asked whether he dreamed of playing for another club besides Bayern, Karl answered without hesitation, though he jokingly asked for discretion. “I hope this stays between us. Bayern is a very big club and it’s a dream to play here. But one day I want to play for Real Madrid. That’s my dream club,” he said, words that quickly spread beyond the room.

Karl’s connection to Real Madrid is not new. It dates back to June 2018, when he was just ten years old and traveled to Spain for a training trial. Journalist Sebastian Leisgang, a close friend of the player’s family, recently recalled the story on his podcast And Now Sports. According to Leisgang, Karl progressed through regional trials in Germany before being invited to Madrid to train at the Bernabéu, although a formal agreement with the club ultimately did not materialize.
