Real Madrid Women were held to a 1-1 draw by Twente in the sixth and final matchday of the Women’s Champions League group stage. The Dutch side struck shortly after halftime, putting the visitors under pressure for much of the second half. However, Real Madrid rescued a point in the closing moments when Däbritz found the net to level the score.
The draw means Pau Quesada’s side could not secure direct qualification for the quarterfinals and will now have to go through the playoff round. Finishing seventh in the group phase, Real Madrid will be seeded and will face either Paris FC or Wolfsburg.
The playoff draw will be held this Thursday at noon in Nyon. The first leg is scheduled for February 11 or 12, with the return match set for February 18 or 19.
