A new edition of El Clásico is approaching, with the fixture once again expected to capture the attention of football fans around the world. Although LaLiga does not provide official audience figures, estimates suggest the match could attract more than 650 million viewers worldwide. The league has confirmed, however, that El Clásico is currently enjoying its highest-ever viewership, with the last two editions ranking as the most watched. Across the past two seasons, the fixture has attracted 51% more viewers than in the previous four seasons combined.

To capture every detail and story from the match, LaLiga will deploy one of its largest audiovisual productions for the international broadcast. The high-profile encounter will feature 38 camera positions, rising to 39 if the teams use bodycams during the warm-up, although that decision has yet to be confirmed.

This represents 13 more cameras than are typically used for a standard "A" match involving Barcelona or Real Madrid, which usually features 25 or 26. By comparison, last Sunday's Real Madrid-Sevilla match had 13 fewer cameras than the upcoming Clásico.

The extensive setup is designed to ensure that no key moment goes unnoticed, while also supporting the referee and VAR team. One of the main innovations will be the first-ever use of a connected ball in El Clásico. In addition to assisting the referee, as it has done since the start of the season, the technology will provide additional data and graphics for the broadcast.
