Real Madrid requested that their upcoming La Liga match against Alavés be moved from Sunday to Saturday in order to gain more recovery time ahead of their crucial Champions League quarter-final second leg. Despite their opponent having no objections, the request was denied by La Liga.
Meanwhile, other Champions League quarter-finalists—including Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Borussia Dortmund—will all be playing their league matches today, gaining a potential advantage in terms of preparation.
In contrast, PSG were granted a similar request. Their Ligue 1 fixture against Nantes, originally scheduled for April 13, was moved to April 22 at the club's request to allow more recovery time between their European commitments against Aston Villa.
