Few voices in football carry as much weight as Toni Kroos, and once again, the German legend has spoken highly of Arda Güler, whose recent rise has come as he’s finally enjoying consistent playing time at Real Madrid. Kroos, who has always been vocal about his admiration for the Turkish midfielder, shared his thoughts in an interview with Sport1.

“I’m happy that he’s finally getting more minutes this year, because he truly deserves it for his footballing quality. He’s a player we can rely on for the future,” Kroos said.

When asked whether Güler could be considered his successor at the Santiago Bernabéu, the former Madrid star dismissed the comparison: “Arda is a very different player from me. His best position is much more advanced than mine, so he’s not my successor at all. But I’m happy for him — he’s a good guy, and I’ve played with him. He has an incredible touch on the ball, which he’s already showing effectively this season,” he explained.

Kroos went on to emphasize the importance of consistent minutes for Güler’s development: “I hope he continues to get regular playing time because that’s the only way to improve. I’m sure that, if he does, he’ll make his mark at Real Madrid for many years,” he concluded, reaffirming his admiration for the young Turk’s discipline and eagerness to learn — qualities he says are rare among emerging talents.

The retired midfielder also provided a glimpse into his post-football life: “Just because you hear less from me doesn’t mean I’m doing nothing. A lot is happening — I work daily at my academy in Madrid, personally coaching two teams. And my foundation just celebrated its 10th anniversary with a big event in Düsseldorf, which I was able to combine perfectly with the Icon League,” he shared.
