Toni Kroos has already expressed his opinion about those players who accept Arab money by labelling Gabri Veiga's signing for Al Ahli as "shameful." Now, the Real Madrid midfielder has once again harshly criticized the majority of players who went to the Saudi Arabian league. “It has been said that ambitious football is played there, but everything revolves around money. In the end, it is a decision for money and against football,” explained the 33-year-old player in Sports Illustrated.
"That's when it starts to be difficult for the football we all know and love,” conyinued Kroos, criticizing in particular the timing chosen by some players when leaving: "Everyone has to make that decision for themselves, as Cristiano Ronaldo, who decided to do it towards the end of his career. But it becomes very difficult when players, who are in the middle of their career and have the quality to play for the best clubs in Europe, decide to make those changes. The lack of human rights is what would prevent me from leaving."
For his part, Kroos prefers to remain loyal to Real Madrid, where he is playing his tenth season in total. "It is a special number for me, especially because I was playing in a very special club. At Real Madrid you have to always be at your best and perform at your best,” concluded the German.
