Real Madrid are preparing for life without Toni Kroos for the first time in over a decade, following the German midfielder’s decision to retire after this summer’s European Championship in his native Germany. His presence will be greatly missed, but club officials have an opportunity to minimize the loss.

Although Real Madrid were not initially expected to sign a replacement for Kroos, they could explore market opportunities as they arise. One such opportunity is Khephren Thuram, who is set to leave Nice during the upcoming transfer window. According to Tuttosport, he has been offered to Los Blancos.

Thuram, a right-footed defensive midfielder known for his play-building capabilities, can also play as a center-back or inside midfielder. His market value is currently €35 million, according to Transfermarkt, but with one year left on his contract, he could be available for around €15-20 million as Nice looks to sell him at a lower price.

Thuram is part of France's roster for the Paris Olympics and is the son of former Barça player Lilian Thuram. His brother, Marcus Thuram, currently plays for Inter Milan. Thuram’s agent, Óscar Damiani, mentioned that he had recommended him to Real Madrid’s coach Carlo Ancelotti. "Khephren would fit better at Real Madrid. I already recommended him to Carlo Ancelotti," he said at the end of last year.
