Summer may still feel distant, but Real Madrid are already planning for next season — and the club is facing a delicate financial balancing act. According to Encestando, Los Blancos must solve a significant salary puzzle in the coming months, with key renewals and potential exits shaping the budget.

Only two contracts are set to expire: Trey Lyles and Sergio Llull. The captain’s case appears straightforward. Llull intends to extend his deal until 2027, and the club has no intention of standing in his way. Lyles’ situation, however, is far more complex.

The Canadian forward benefited this season from a reduced 25% tax rate, an advantage that will no longer apply next year. Madrid paid him over $2 million net this season — a manageable figure within a total salary budget exceeding $42 million. Now, initial talks have reportedly taken place with Lyles’ agent, who is seeking $5.5 million gross (close to $3 million net), numbers comparable to Walter Tavares’ salary.

Competition is fierce. Clubs such as Fenerbahçe, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos, and even Barcelona are prepared to offer between $3 and $4 million net. Monaco, despite internal instability, continue to pay Mike James around $3 million net per season.

Another situation to monitor is Mario Hezonja. The Croatian forward has a contract with escalating wages — $4.2 million gross this year and $4.7 million next season — and only includes an NBA buyout clause: $1 million, which temporarily drops to $500,000 for a few days in July. There is no EuroLeague exit clause. His recent change of representation — now working with Misko Raznatovic in Europe and Jeff Schwartz in the United States — is widely viewed as a strategic move. Encestando reports that an Eastern Conference NBA franchise has been tracking him for months.

Real Madrid, therefore, must carefully navigate renewals, market pressure, and potential NBA interest as they shape the roster for next season.
