Julián López de Lerma is set to become the new manager of Castilla, pending official confirmation. The former Juvenil A coach will replace Álvaro Arbeloa at the helm of Real Madrid’s reserve team.
López de Lerma took over from Arbeloa last summer to lead Juvenil A, and just months later, history repeats itself with Castilla. His promotion confirms his status as one of the club’s most highly regarded coaches and a rising figure within La Fábrica, Real Madrid’s youth academy.
The club’s decision to entrust him with the reserve team comes as no surprise. In a short but highly successful spell with Juvenil A, López de Lerma exceeded expectations, recording 19 wins, one draw, and just two defeats in 22 matches. His side currently sits top of the league and has reached the Round of 16 of the UEFA Youth League after finishing among the competition’s top six.
