The Negreira case continues to dominate Spanish football and keep the entire league on edge. Since the evidence-gathering phase began, new details have surfaced, each one further complicating FC Barcelona’s position amid accusations of benefiting from refereeing decisions for over two decades in LaLiga—a matter that inevitably concerns Real Madrid, their main domestic rival.

According to El Mundo, the Barcelona Court of Instruction No. 1 has taken a new step in the investigation by requesting FC Barcelona to hand over the original contracts signed with José María Enríquez Negreira, the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA). The court has also demanded any supporting materials related to his 20 years of invoicing the club.

Despite extensive discussion about the alleged agreements, Barcelona has yet to present any official documentation regarding the corruption case. While the €8 million in payments have been confirmed, they do not appear in the club’s internal records. Furthermore, El Mundo reports that there is still no trace of any written report to justify Negreira’s supposed advisory services.

As a result, the judge has summoned a legal representative of FC Barcelona to testify. Additional updates are expected by the end of November, when Luis Enrique, Ernesto Valverde, and Joan Laporta will all appear as witnesses in the case.
