Sunday in Madrid was more than an NFL game; it was a historic first. The Miami Dolphins and Washington Commanders played the NFL’s first regular-season matchup in Spain at a fully transformed Santiago Bernabéu.
On the field, the game went down to the wire. Miami won 16-13 in overtime with a 29-yard field goal from Riley Patterson, set up by Jack Jones’ interception on the first play of OT. Washington had chances to win in regulation but failed to capitalize.
The moment of the night came right after that interception. Jack Jones ran to the sideline, jumped, twisted, and delivered Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous SIU celebration, sending the stadium into chaos. Fans captured the viral moment as an NFL star paid tribute to a football legend inside Real Madrid’s iconic stadium.
