Jürgen Klopp has publicly addressed the rumors linking him to Xabi Alonso’s dismissal from Real Madrid. The German coach, who currently serves as Red Bull’s global director of football, made it clear that the situation has nothing to do with him and that a return to the bench is not on his radar.

“This has nothing to do with me and it doesn’t affect me at all,” Klopp told Austrian broadcaster Servus TV, playing down the long-standing speculation that has connected his name with the Santiago Bernabéu. The former Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool manager stressed that he is fully content in his current role, away from the daily pressures of coaching.

“Coaching positions are always changing, and it’s good to observe things from the sidelines without worrying about what it might mean for you personally, because where I am right now is the right place for me,” he explained, effectively closing the door on any immediate return to management.

Klopp also expressed sympathy for Xabi Alonso, who was dismissed just six months after taking charge of Real Madrid following his highly successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen. “It’s a sign that not everything is completely right if Xabi Alonso, who showed for more than two years in Leverkusen what an extraordinary coach he is, has to leave Real Madrid after only six months,” he said.

The German highlighted the difficulty of replacing a figure like Carlo Ancelotti. “Taking over from a legendary coach with such a clear way of managing the team makes it very hard to come in and change things. That’s what made the situation too complicated for Xabi Alonso. I really feel for him, because I think he’s a great coach,” Klopp concluded.
