Walter Tavares has been ruled out for at least the entire EuroLeague quarterfinal series against Hapoel Tel Aviv after suffering a medial collateral ligament injury in his left knee, Real Madrid confirmed.
The center will be re-evaluated in two weeks, with cautious optimism that he could return in time for the Final Four in Athens, provided the team qualifies and his recovery progresses well.
Tavares sustained the injury less than three minutes into the opening playoff game, landing awkwardly while contesting a rebound. He immediately grabbed his left knee and, although he managed to stand, requested to be substituted after just 2:37 on the court.
Early concerns have now been confirmed, ruling him out of the remainder of the series. Real Madrid will continue the quarterfinals without one of their key players, with Game 2 scheduled for May 1 and subsequent matches depending on the series outcome.
