One of the issues that often adds tension ahead of a Clásico, alongside statements from players and club presidents, is the appointment of the referee for the match. For the Barcelona-Real Madrid clash on October 25, the Technical Committee of Referees has appointed Hernández Hernández.
The referee has previously filed a complaint against Real Madrid TV, while his record in matches involving Real Madrid has also attracted criticism. His appointment for one of the biggest fixtures of the season has therefore placed him under particular scrutiny.
Hernández Hernández will take charge of the Barcelona-Real Madrid match at the end of October, with his previous record in high-profile games once again becoming a talking point ahead of the Clásico.
