Guti was one of the main attractions at the LaLiga FC26 Community Challenge, an event at Madrid’s Callao cinemas where five LaLiga legends faced off against five streamers. Before the competition began, the former Real Madrid midfielder spoke to the media and offered strong support for Xabi Alonso.

On the upcoming clash against Manchester City, his prediction was as bold as ever: “Madrid wins 5-0.”

Asked whether he trusts Xabi Alonso, Guti didn’t hesitate: “Of course. He’s the best coach there is.”

Regarding the notion that the players might be undermining the coach, he turned the accusation toward the press: “On the contrary — I think it’s the journalists who are undermining him.”

Guti also defended the manager’s work so far, stressing that Xabi Alonso needs more time to fully assess the team: “Whenever a new coach arrives, it’s difficult for things to go as well as they are going. It’s true the last month hasn’t been good in terms of results, but the start was very strong.”

Asked whether the squad had lost quality, he acknowledged the injury crisis: “He has a great squad, but there are a lot of injuries right now. It’s the same thing that happened last year. That affects not only Xabi, but the entire team.”

On the controversial refereeing in the defeat to Celta, Guti downplayed the impact: “I don’t think the referee influenced the result of the match.”
