Gonzalo García's future remains one of the biggest unresolved issues for Real Madrid during the summer transfer window, with growing interest from clubs across Europe.
According to journalist Mario Cortegana, Fulham have now entered negotiations to sign the academy striker, with manager Álvaro Arbeloa playing an active role in the operation. Having previously coached Gonzalo during his time at Real Madrid, Arbeloa is convinced the young forward can become an important part of Fulham's long-term project.
Despite being open to the player's departure, Real Madrid are not keen to lose control over one of La Fábrica's brightest talents. The club would prefer any agreement to include clauses such as a buy-back option or another mechanism that preserves influence over the striker's future.
José Mourinho is also said to rate Gonzalo García highly and appreciates his potential. However, with several established attacking options already available in the first-team squad, the Portuguese coach cannot guarantee the regular playing time the youngster needs to continue his development.
As a result, a move away from the Santiago Bernabéu could offer Gonzalo the opportunity to gain valuable experience while allowing Real Madrid to retain the possibility of bringing him back in the future.
