Real Madrid have intensified their scrutiny of refereeing decisions, increasingly linking them to Barcelona within the context of the ongoing Negreira case. According to MARCA, sources at Valdebebas suggest the club is convinced that past mistakes and unresolved controversies have systematically favored the Catalan side.

Club president Florentino Pérez has reinforced this stance, assuring members that Madrid will not let the matter fade away. “We will go to the end,” he reportedly declared, underlining the club’s determination to confront what it views as structural injustices in Spanish football.

The debate has escalated in recent weeks following refereeing controversies in the first four La Liga matchdays, with tensions peaking in the match against Real Sociedad. The Technical Committee of Referees has reportedly criticized its own officials, and some referees could face temporary suspensions for errors that VAR failed to correct.

Madrid’s strategy now goes beyond isolated incidents affecting their own matches. Through Real Madrid TV, the club has highlighted comparative statistics and episodes involving Barcelona, including the controversial run between February 2016 and March 2018 when Barça went more than two years without conceding a penalty in La Liga.

Meanwhile, the Negreira case remains under investigation, with former coaches and executives such as Luis Enrique, Ernesto Valverde, and Joan Laporta expected to testify in the coming weeks.
