Florentino Pérez detailed several transformation plans for Real Madrid that he intends to present at an Extraordinary General Meeting and later submit to a referendum among all club members. He clarified that Real Madrid will remain a members’ club, but a new subsidiary will be created, allowing the incorporation of a small minority stake of around 5 percent. According to the president, this is the most transparent way to determine the club’s real market value. He also stressed that going public is not an option the club wishes to pursue.

This structure, involving only limited participation from what he described as a strategic partner and ally, would allow members to retain full control of the club’s governance. Pérez called it the beginning of a new chapter that will strengthen and secure the institution. He insisted that Real Madrid’s legacy must be eternal and should never rely on the individual strength of a board or president. With this transparent and carefully designed step, Real Madrid would continue to be what it has always been: the best club in the world.

Pérez explained that the nearly 100,000 current members would each hold a single share, transferable only upon death to a child or grandchild. This measure aims to ensure that members are both recognized and financially rewarded for their loyalty and seniority. He argued that with the current bylaws, a member’s legacy disappears when they pass away. Under the new system, their membership would no longer be only sentimental but would carry real and tangible value.

The purpose of this reform is to preserve the club for the next century. Pérez emphasized the need to protect Real Madrid from external and internal threats to its heritage and to reinforce awareness of the value members hold in their hands. He insisted that the goal is to prevent control of the club from falling into the hands of a few individuals, something that has happened in other institutions. He stated that it is his responsibility to propose measures that safeguard what has been achieved. Rather than limiting members’ rights, he explained that the reform would expand them and grant new rights that do not exist today.

Pérez also recalled how Real Madrid managed to push both the PSOE and the PP to block an amendment to the Sports Law in Congress that would have transferred the club’s commercial revenue to LaLiga. He argued that the priority is to prevent their assets from being taken away. He added that the president of LaLiga has shown an inability to grow the competition and that, in search of additional revenue, he has tried to act against Real Madrid.

The Real Madrid president closed by saying he will offer more details at the Extraordinary Meeting. He reminded members that the club belongs to them and noted that, under the current system, when a member dies, nothing is passed on. With the new structure, he wants the treasure of Real Madrid to remain in the hands of children and grandchildren for the next century. His remarks were met with applause from the assembly.
